There are no New Testament uses of the word depression.

Anti-depression drugs are the most prescribed medication in the US.

A synonym for depression is worry. I thought that there were a lot more than these. ( I deleted the repeats from other Gospels.)

2 Corinthians 5:19

¹⁹ ...God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them…

On which two ancient cities did God rain brimstone and fire? If your answer is Sodom and Gomorrah, you are right. But if you think that God was all eager to destroy the two cities, you are wrong!

God wasn’t willing at all. He was not on a sin hunt. He was on a righteousness hunt so that He could spare the cities. (Genesis 18:23–32) And I believe that if Abraham had asked God, “What if You can find just one righteous man?” God’s answer would have been the same: “I will not destroy the place for the sake of one righteous man.”

Today, the righteousness of one Man — Jesus — has come. Jesus died for our sins and rose again for our justification. God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not counting our sins against us!

Therefore, no judgment will fall on you today because it fell on Jesus 2,000 years ago at Calvary. And if God was gracious enough to remove Lot and his family before the judgment fell (Genesis 19:12–22), how much more will He do for you who are no longer under judgment!

And because God does not judge you, don’t be like Lot’s wife, who became a pillar of salt when she turned around to look at the brimstone and fire. (Genesis 19:24–26) She wanted to see God’s judgment, even though the angels had warned, “Don’t look back, lest you be destroyed.” (Genesis 19:17)

So don’t be judgment-focused and look back at the sins you have committed. God is not against you. He is for you and on your side. He remembers that He has already judged and punished your sins in the body of His Son. And because He is faithful to His Son and to what His Son has done, He will never judge or punish you. Any trouble that you might have today is not from Him. But He will show you a way of escape because He is on your side. He loves you and has your best interests at heart.

Beloved, God is not out to get you. He is out to bless you. And He wants you blessed more than you can ever ask or imagine! (Ephesians 3:20)

John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Read the Bible without the Spirit's help and you find yourself
in human effort. NOTHING!

Receive the gift of Holy Spirit to receive revelation of Jesus is the Word, and don't preach anything but Jesus and The Grace of God in order to have communion with The Father and The Son...

Andrew Wommack has a word Luke 11:11 - "If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?"

	The most loving Father in the world cannot compare to our heavenly Father and the love He has for us. And yet, many times, we find it easier to believe in the willingness of a father or mother or mate to help us than in the willingness of God to use His power on our behalf. Relatively few people really doubt God's ability, but rather, it is our doubt of His willingness to use His ability on our behalf that causes most people to do without. Jesus is assuring us that God's love, and His willingness to demonstrate that love, is far greater than we can ever experience in any human relationship. The Lord didn't just save us out of pity or a sense of obligation as our Creator. He saved us because He loved us (John 3:16). It was the "good pleasure of his will" for us to become adopted sons (Eph.1:5). We are wanted and accepted by our Father! What a wonderful thing this is! It would have been more than any of us deserve to be forgiven by God. Then to be given certain rights and privileges would have been more than we could have expected. But the Lord went further than that. He has actually accepted us. The Lord does not just tolerate us; He actually loves us. He even likes us. He rejoices over us with joy (Zeph. 3:17).

Matthew 10: 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received.

The reason we don't freely give is that we are taught wrong doctrine.

The church has taught that salvation is free--you can't earn it---BUT. Grace is free----BUT. A prime example of what religion will do to manipulate...

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The original Greek---Romans 8:1 [There is] then now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. The translators added a stipulation to Grace.

If we do not receive freely then we will not give freely. If we have to earn our blessing then we expect others to earn theirs. Grace was given at The Cross. Grace is received when you believe and confess with your mouth. You will never be more "holy", more "saved" or more LOVED than you are when you accept the Gift of Jesus.

When we know that it's all free---we can freely give.

Mother's Day America

In 1908 a U.S. Senator from Nebraska, Elmer Burkett, proposed making Mother's Day a national holiday at the request of the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA).

The proposal was defeated, but by 1909 forty-six states were holding Mother's Day services as well as parts of Canada and Mexico.

Anna Jarvis quit working and devoted herself full time to the creation of Mother's Day, endlessly petitioning state governments, business leaders, women groups, churches and other institutions and organizations.

She finally convinced the World's Sunday School Association to back her, a key influence over state legislators and congress. In 1912 West Virginia became the first state to officially recognize Mother's Day.

In 1914 Woodrow Wilson signed it into national observance, declaring the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day.

Trust is the only currency that works.
The dollar means nothing--good works mean nothing --
-you've tried all that.

Trust is all you have.

For everyday there is what you need.
Not tomorrow's -- just today's,
but there is more that you can't store.

There is trust.

You cannot work to earn what is free.
There is no way to pay for what is priceless.
There is no currency that works for that which is Grace.

There is only TRUST.

Passover, Easter: Gospel of John The Resurrection

John 20

Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved.

"They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!"

Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see.

The other disciple outran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side. Then the other disciple also went in,

and he saw and believed --

for until then they hadn't realized that the Scriptures said he would rise from the dead.

Then they went home.

Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in. She saw two white-robed angels sitting at the head and foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying. "Why are you crying?" the angels asked her."Because they have taken away my Lord," she replied, "and I don't know where they have put him."

She glanced over her shoulder and saw someone standing behind her.

It was Jesus, but she didn't recognize him.

"Why are you crying?" Jesus asked her. "Who are you looking for?"

She thought he was the gardener. "Sir," she said, "if you have taken him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will go and get him."

"Mary!" Jesus said.She turned toward him and exclaimed, "Teacher!"

"Don't cling to me," Jesus said, "for I haven't yet ascended to the Father.

But go find my brothers and tell them that I am ascending to my Father and your Father,

my God and your God."

Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, "I have seen the Lord!" Then she gave them his message.

That evening, on the first day of the week, the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them!

"Peace be with you," he said.

As he spoke, he held out his hands for them to see, and he showed them his side.

They were filled with joy when they saw their Lord! He spoke to them again and said,

"Peace be with you.

As the Father has sent me, so I send you."

Then he breathed on them and said to them,

"Receive the Holy Spirit.

If you forgive anyone's sins, they are forgiven. If you refuse to forgive them, they are not forgiven."

One of the disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin ), was not with the others when Jesus came. They told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he replied, "I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side."

Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. He said, "Peace be with you." Then he said to Thomas,

"Put your finger here and see my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!"

"My Lord and my God!" Thomas exclaimed. Then Jesus told him,

"You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who haven't seen me and believe anyway."

Jesus' disciples saw him do many other miraculous signs besides the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may believe that

Jesus is the Messiah,

the Son of God,

and that by believing in him

you will have life.

Passover, Easter: Gospel of John Holy Saturday

THE Holy Saturday was a very somber day for Jesus disciples. Some scriptures below must have filled the minds of His followers. Looking back on THE Holy Saturday, the day marked the end of one Covenant and the complete newness of The Covenant of Salvation inaugurated by the Resurrection of Christ.

John 14

"Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly."

Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."

...In just a little while the world will not see me again, but you will. For I will live again, and you will, too. When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. "I am leaving you with a gift -- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives."

"So don't be troubled or afraid."

"Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really love me, you will be very happy for me, because now I can go to the Father, who is greater than I am.

I have told you these things before they happen so that you will believe when they do happen."

John 15

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. ... Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful apart from me." "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing....

... I no longer call you servants, because a master doesn't confide in his servants. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.

You didn't choose me. I chose you.

I appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. I command you to love each other. "When the world hates you, remember it hated me before it hated you. The world would love you if you belonged to it, but you don't. I chose you to come out of the world, and so it hates you."

."Do you remember what I told you? 'A servant is not greater than the master.' Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you! The people of the world will hate you because you belong to me... They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have no excuse for their sin. Anyone who hates me hates my Father, too.

If I hadn't done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be counted guilty. But as it is, they saw all that I did and yet hated both of us -- me and my Father. This has fulfilled what the Scriptures said: 'They hated me without cause.' "But I will send you the Counselor -- the Spirit of truth."

John 16

"I have told you these things so that you won't fall away....

...it is actually best for you that I go away, because if I don't, the Counselor won't come. If I do go away, he will come because I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convince the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment.

The world's sin is unbelief in me.

Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. Judgment will come because the prince of this world has already been judged.

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

John 17

..."During my time here, I have kept them safe. I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold. And now I am coming to you. I have told them many things while I was with them so they would be filled with my joy.

I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not. I'm not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They are not part of this world any more than I am. Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth.

As you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give myself entirely to you so they also might be entirely yours."

"I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me because of their testimony. My prayer for all of them is that they will be one, just as you and I are one, Father -- that just as you are in me and I am in you, so they will be in us, and the world will believe you sent me.

"I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are -- I in them and you in me, all being perfected into one.

Then the world will know that you sent me and will understand that you love them as much as you love me. Father, I want these whom you've given me to be with me, so they can see my glory. You gave me the glory because you loved me even before the world began!

"O righteous Father, the world doesn't know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me."

"And I have revealed you to them and will keep on revealing you. I will do this so that your love for me may be in them and I in them."

Passover, Easter: Gospel of John for Good Friday

John 19 NLT

....Judas, the betrayer, knew this place, because Jesus had gone there many times with his disciples. The leading priests and Pharisees had given Judas a battalion of Roman soldiers and Temple guards to accompany him. Now with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons, they arrived at the olive grove. Jesus fully realized all that was going to happen to him.

Stepping forward to meet them, he asked, "Whom are you looking for?"

"Jesus of Nazareth," they replied.

"I am," Jesus said. Judas was standing there with them when Jesus identified himself, and as he said, "I am," they all fell backward to the ground!

..." since I am the one you want, let these others go." He did this to fulfill his own statement: "I have not lost a single one of those you gave me." Then Simon Peter drew a sword and slashed off the right ear of Malchus, the high priest's servant.

But Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword back into its sheath. Shall I not drink from the cup the Father has given me?" So the soldiers, their commanding officer, and the Temple guards arrested Jesus and tied him up.

First they took him to Annas, the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year. Caiaphas was the one who had told the other Jewish leaders, "Better that one should die for all." Simon Peter followed along behind, as did another of the disciples. That other disciple was acquainted with the high priest, so he was allowed to enter the courtyard with Jesus.

Inside, the high priest began asking Jesus about his followers and what he had been teaching them.

Jesus replied, "What I teach is widely known, because I have preached regularly in the synagogues and the Temple. I have been heard by people everywhere, and I teach nothing in private that I have not said in public. Why are you asking me this question? Ask those who heard me.

They know what I said."

One of the Temple guards standing there struck Jesus on the face. "Is that the way to answer the high priest?" he demanded. Jesus replied, "If I said anything wrong, you must give evidence for it. Should you hit a man for telling the truth?"

Then Annas bound Jesus and sent him to Caiaphas, the high priest. ...

Jesus' trial before Caiaphas ended in the early hours of the morning.

Then he was taken to the headquarters of the Roman governor.

His accusers didn't go in themselves because it would defile them, and they wouldn't be allowed to celebrate the Passover feast.

So Pilate, the governor, went out to them and asked, "What is your charge against this man?" "We wouldn't have handed him over to you if he weren't a criminal!" they retorted. "Then take him away and judge him by your own laws," Pilate told them.

"Only the Romans are permitted to execute someone," the Jewish leaders replied. This fulfilled Jesus' prediction about the way he would die.

Then Pilate went back inside and called for Jesus to be brought to him. "Are you the King of the Jews?" he asked him.

...Then Jesus answered, "I am not an earthly king. If I were, my followers would have fought when I was arrested by the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world." Pilate replied, "You are a king then?" "You say that I am a king, and you are right," Jesus said. "I was born for that purpose. And I came to bring truth to the world. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true."

"What is truth?" Pilate asked.

Then he went out again to the people and told them, "He is not guilty of any crime. But you have a custom of asking me to release someone from prison each year at Passover. So if you want me to, I'll release the King of the Jews." But they shouted back, "No! Not this man, but Barabbas!" (Barabbas was a criminal)

John 19 NLT

Then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip. The soldiers made a crown of long, sharp thorns and put it on his head, and they put a royal purple robe on him.

"Hail! King of the Jews!" they mocked, and they hit him with their fists. Pilate went outside again and said to the people, "I am going to bring him out to you now, but understand clearly that I find him not guilty."

Then Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe.

And Pilate said, "Here is the man!" When they saw him, the leading priests and Temple guards began shouting, "Crucify! Crucify!"

"You crucify him," Pilate said. "I find him not guilty."

The Jewish leaders replied, "By our laws he ought to die because he called himself the Son of God." When Pilate heard this, he was more frightened than ever. He took Jesus back into the headquarters again and asked him, "Where are you from?" But Jesus gave no answer.

"You won't talk to me?" Pilate demanded. "Don't you realize that I have the power to release you or to crucify you?" Then Jesus said, "You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who brought me to you has the greater sin."

Then Pilate tried to release him, but the Jewish leaders told him, "If you release this man, you are not a friend of Caesar. Anyone who declares himself a king is a rebel against Caesar."

When they said this, Pilate brought Jesus out to them again. Then Pilate sat down on the judgment seat on the platform that is called the Stone Pavement (in Hebrew, Gabbatha).

It was now about noon of the day of preparation for the Passover.

And Pilate said to the people, "Here is your king!"

"Away with him," they yelled. "Away with him -- crucify him!"

"What? Crucify your king?" Pilate asked.

"We have no king but Caesar," the leading priests shouted back.

Then Pilate gave Jesus to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led him away.

Carrying the cross by himself, Jesus went to the place called Skull Hill (in Hebrew, Golgotha).

There they crucified him.

There were two others crucified with him, one on either side, with Jesus between them.

And Pilate posted a sign over him that read, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews."

The place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and the sign was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek, so that many people could read it.

...When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they divided his clothes among the four of them. They also took his robe, but it was seamless, woven in one piece from the top.

So they said, "Let's not tear it but throw dice to see who gets it." This fulfilled the Scripture that says, "They divided my clothes among themselves and threw dice for my robe."So that is what they did.

Standing near the cross were Jesus' mother, and his mother's sister, Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene.

When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, "Woman, he is your son." And he said to this disciple, "She is your mother." And from then on this disciple took her into his home.

Jesus knew that everything was now finished, and to fulfill the Scriptures he said, "I am thirsty." A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, "It is finished!" Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

The Jewish leaders didn't want the victims hanging there the next day, which was the Sabbath (and a very special Sabbath at that, because it was the Passover),

so they asked Pilate to hasten their deaths by ordering that their legs be broken. Then their bodies could be taken down.

So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the two men crucified with Jesus. But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was dead already, so they didn't break his legs.

One of the soldiers, however, pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water flowed out.

This report is from an eyewitness giving an accurate account; it is presented so that you also can believe.

These things happened in fulfillment of the Scriptures that say, "Not one of his bones will be broken," and "They will look on him whom they pierced."

... The place of crucifixion was near a garden, where there was a new tomb, never used before. And so, because it was the day of preparation before the Passover and since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.

"My time has not yet come." But his mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you." Six stone waterpots were standing there; they were used for Jewish ceremonial purposes and held twenty to thirty gallons each. Jesus told the servants,"Fill the jars with water." When the jars had been filled to the brim, he said, "Dip some out and take it to the master of ceremonies." So they followed his instructions. When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. "Usually a host serves the best wine first," he said. "Then, when everyone is full and doesn't care, he brings out the less expensive wines. But you have kept the best until now!" This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was Jesus' first display of his glory. And his disciples believed in him. After the wedding he went to Capernaum for a few days with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples. It was time for the annual Passover celebration, and Jesus went to Jerusalem.

What do we think of as we start to read this? Third day is the day of resurrection. Jesus was here as "an also invited"--not an honored guest. Jesus went against his own desire and brought honor to the bridegroom just as he went against his desire and converted sin into righteousness at the cross. And all of this happened in the time of the Passover.

For the first day of Passover I was impressed to post this passage from John. Today through Easter I will post passages from John.

John 1: 1-17 NLT

In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. He was in the beginning with God. He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn't make. Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone. The light shines through the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

God sent John the Baptist to tell everyone about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was only a witness to the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was going to come into the world. But although the world was made through him, the world didn't recognize him when he came. Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn!

This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan -- this rebirth comes from God. So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. John pointed him out to the people.

He shouted to the crowds, "This is the one I was talking about when I said, 'Someone is coming who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before I did.'" We have all benefited from the rich blessings he brought to us -- one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses;

Paul is bringing out a very important point which those who preach performance conveniently fail to mention. Deuteronomy 27:26 says, "Cursed be he that confirmeth not ALL the words of this law to do them." Those who trust in the law must keep every word of the law perfectly or they come under the curse (Dt. 28:15-68) instead of the blessing (Dt. 28:1-14). Since all have sinned (Rom. 3:23), no one can ever attain to the blessing of the law through his own effort. We must put faith in the grace of God and receive the blessing as a gift (Rom. 6:23).

I saw this question on a comment to a Joseph Prince devotion. I endeavor to make it short and sweet.

Original sin was disobedience(rooted in pride in self) to the only law God gave in the garden to Adam. From that point onward every man had sin.

God gave the Ten Commandments amending the Covenant made to Abraham (faith) for the Israelites to be God's chosen people. Sin was any action that broke one of these Laws or any of the 613 Levitical laws.

Jn 1:17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

How do you balance Grace and Truth?
   This is an impossibility. To balance you must have something to put on the other side of the balance beam.

The only "balance" would be to put Jesus on one side and Grace and truth together on the other. As the verse pasted above says Jesus brought us both grace and truth.

The truth is The law was given through Moses by God, it is inflexible, written in stone and no man can keep it.

Grace is a free gift of God that came through Jesus "The anointed ONE." The ONLY way to keep the law is to believe that Jesus did it.

All this searching for truth in the scripture should lead to one truth.

   Jn 5:39-40
39 "You search the Scriptures because you believe they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! 40 Yet you refuse to come to me so that I can give you this eternal life.

Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount was showing the Law in its truth. (ckellett3 paraphrase) You want to hold to this--well this is what it means. Can you do it?

The Israelites at Mt. Sinai said that they could keep all the law and do anything that God commands of them. In less than 40 days, they broke the first commandment and built an idol.

Only One Man has ever kept the law.
   There is only One obedient Man and One perfect Sacrifice.
Preaching law today is nothing different than what the pharisees did in Jesus day.

Grace and Truth is Jesus--the Word made man. When you search the Word, and you don't see Jesus---you may be looking for the wrong thing.
   The law does not bring eternal life---

   Jesus tells the ten to "go and show yourselves to the priests." This is what the Law requires a leper to do before returning to the congregation. Nine were obedient to Jesus' command. One was not immediately obedient. All ten were healed.

   The difference between the one and the nine is perception. The nine perceived that the law was in operation and were anxious to return to the congregation. The one who returned--an outsider anyway--perceived The Healer---Jesus. "Your faith has made you well." The nine went immediately to be reconciled to the congregation by the letter of the Law.

   One of the ten recognized that The Healer had shown up to change things. He was thankful--but more important than that was his perception of The Healer showing the Grace of God--outside the Law. This is a picture of Jesus being recognized by outsiders before his own people could see Him as Messiah.

The reason we don't freely give is that we are taught wrong doctrine.

The church has taught that salvation is free--you can't earn it---BUT. Grace is free----BUT. A prime example of what religion will do to manipulate...

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The original Greek---Romans 8:1 [There is] then now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus.

The translators added a stipulation to Grace.

When we know that it's all free---we can freely give.

Protect your mind with salvation. Defend yourself with The Word. Pray in The Spirit about everything--all the time. Pray for God's people, and pray for me -- the words to explain without compromise--to preach The Gospel without fear.

We are not in chains made of steel. Maybe the chains are the lack of understanding. Understanding salvation brings freedom, and the Word of God defends against lies that keep us bound.

   Preaching Grace and Truth opens blind eyes to understand that God remembers your sin no more. We need to eat the word of life. The Word is Jesus the Author of Life.

   We need The Gospel to cleanse our mind of the wrong doctrine and propaganda that the church has brainwashed us with.

   The time of the Second Coming is near. We need to hear His voice. His voice is not represented in church doctrine. His voice speaks The Gospel.

Luke 4:

18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to preach Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors, 19 and that the time of the Lord's favor has come. "

20 He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. Everyone in the synagogue stared at him intently. 21 Then he said, "This Scripture has come true today before your very eyes!"

The Gospel is Good news. It is Finished. Believe and receive the Grace and Truth of THE GOSPEL, and leave behind the wrong doctrine being perpetuated by the church today. The Church is coming. The spotless Bride of Christ is being prepared through the preaching of The Gospel. The ONLY WAY for the Bride to be spotless is the Finished work at the Cross. The law won't do it. Come quickly Lord Jesus.

Romans 4:14 So if you claim that God's promise is for those who obey God's law and think they are "good enough" in God's sight, then you are saying that faith is useless. And in that case, the promise is also meaningless.

   How many people that Jesus healed were "saved"? The only one that comes to mind is Lazarus. Lazarus had been with Jesus as part of a privileged few. The inner circle of followers had information that the public was not privy to. Lazarus believed Jesus and became a good friend of His.
   Lazarus' sisters were very upset that Jesus did not make it in time to heal him. Jesus saw an opportunity for God to show His Glory, and for a third time God's audible voice was heard during Jesus' earthly ministry.
  After Lazarus was raised from the dead many had come to believe, and this caused quite a turmoil among the Jewish leaders. They had come to see Lazarus and the One who had raised him.

John 12...Jesus said..."Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it and will glorify it again." 29 Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to Him." 30 Jesus answered and said, "This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake.

The New Living translation says in verse 29 that some of the people there thought it had thundered some said it was an angel that spoke. The author of the passage (John) heard God's voice. God did not speak for Jesus benefit , but for the people to believe.

Later in the chapter....

42 Many people, including some of the Jewish leaders, believed in him. But they wouldn't admit it to anyone because of their fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue. 43 For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.

Lazarus was not raised from the dead because he was "good enough" to deserve it. He believed God had come as Messiah in Jesus. When Jesus said "Lazarus, come out!", Lazarus heard His voice and came out---alive. When the Voice from Heaven came, some that were there did not hear. When Jesus calls out COME UP HERE! , the ones who think they are deserving will not hear--they will think it thunder...or an angel--because they loved human praise more than the praise of God.

The promise is the new Covenant God has made with man --apart from works--

Romans 10:9....If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

The exact day of the Christ child's birth has never been pinpointed. Traditions say that it has been celebrated since the year 98 AD. In 137 AD the Bishop of Rome ordered the birthday of the Christ Child celebrated as a solemn feast. In 350 AD another Bishop of Rome, Julius I, choose December 25th as the observance of Christmas.The word “Christmas” translates to “Mass Of Christ”.

Many "christmas traditions" began with the Mesopotamian celebration of New Years. The Mesopotamians believed in many gods, and as their chief god - Marduk. Each year as winter arrived it was believed that Marduk would do battle with the monsters of chaos. To assist Marduk in his struggle the Mesopotamians held a festival for the New Year. This was Zagmuk, the New Year's festival that lasted for 12 days. The Mesopotamian king would return to the temple of Marduk and swear his faithfulness to the god. The traditions called for the king to die at the end of the year and to return with Marduk to battle at his side.

To spare their king, the Mesopotamians used the idea of a "mock" king. A criminal was chosen and dressed in royal clothes. He was given all the respect and privileges of a real king. At the end of the celebration the "mock" king was stripped of the royal clothes and slain, sparing the life of the real king.

One theory about the evolution of the winter celebrations to the celebration of the birth of Jesus is that the Roman emperor Constantine, who converted to Christianity, wanted to incorporate the pagan winter rituals together with the celebration of Jesus’ birth. In this way, Constantine hoped to help both pagans and Christians celebrate together.Constantine can rightfully claim the title of Great, for he turned the history of the world into a new course and made Christianity, which until then had suffered bloody persecution, the religion of the State. It is true that the deeper reasons for this change are to be found in the religious movement of the time, but these reasons were hardly imperative, as the Christians formed only a small portion of the population, being a fifth part in the West and the half of the population in a large section of the East. Constantine's decision depended less on general conditions than on a personal act; his personality, therefore, deserves careful consideration.

Many believe that this is the reason for celebrating the birth of Christ on December 25th. It is widely believed today that Jesus was not actually born on, or even close to, December 25th. Eventually, the Roman church became almost completely successful in making the December celebration only about the birth of Christ, replacing any celebrations that were in honor of pagan gods.

The Light

This morning I did not feel good when I awoke. When I say feel good, I mean in NO WAY did I feel any sort of good or goodness at all. I hurt all over. Physically was bad enough, but when your spirit has no goodness--you are really hurting.

My TV is set to auto-tune Joseph Prince for every time slot from 5am through 9:30am, so I hear the Gospel preached before I hear anything else. I still felt BAD. I took my Bible and prated for the Lord to wash me with His Goodness and Love. Instead of an instant calm and peace, I got a scripture: John 3:19. This is one scripture that has somewhat eluded my understanding.

19 Their judgment is based on this fact: The light from heaven came into the world, but they loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.

I watched a video yesterday that has been replaying in my head--I will post at the end. The context here is Jesus speaking to a respected Jewish religious leader, a Pharisee, about being Born Again. As a Pharisee, Nicodemus was very well taught in The Law, and knew the blessings and curses that came with the Law. But Jesus said, God did not send me into the world to condemn it but to save it--verse 18 "There is no judgement awaiting those who trust him (Me-Jesus). But those who do not trust him(Jesus) have already been judged for not believing in The only Son of God. So in verse 19, let me substitute some words for simplicity, the reason why judgement had fell on some was unbelief in Jesus. They loved the darkness (their way of becoming right with God--the Pharisee's way--the Law) for their actions (their unbelief) were evil.

Verse twenty says they hate the light(Jesus) because they want to sin in darkness. In other words, they want to be in unbelief(sin) and hide in darkness(their trust in the Law). I can substitute Jesus here for light. Read John 8: 12 I am the Light... I can substitute unbelief for sin and for deeds. Read John 6:28-29 I pray for Holy Spirit to remove any veil that separates any heart from understanding God's Grace which is a person Jesus.
