what is sin? -what is salvation?

I saw this question on a comment to a Joseph Prince devotion.  I endeavor to make it short and sweet.

Original sin was disobedience(rooted in pride in self) to the only law God gave in the garden to Adam.  From that point onward every man had sin.

God gave the Ten Commandments amending the Covenant made to Abraham (faith) for the Israelites to be God's chosen people.  Sin was any action that broke one of these Laws or any of the 613 Levitical laws. 

Jesus said:

   John 16: 9 The world's sin is unbelief in me. 

Salvation:

Jesus said:
   John 3 :  ¹⁶ “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Paul said:
   Romans 10:   ⁹ If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.


Of sin and Salvation Paul said:
   Romans 5:¹⁹ Because one person(Adam) disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person (Jesus)obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
